So today I actually sat down to tackle my email. By "tackle" I mean go through the over 600 messages (not including the 1400 messages in my Junk folder) that I've seemed to accumulate, put emails that I want saved in the appropriate folders, write some long overdue replies, etc. etc.
I should also mention that I have two Forwarding Email Friends - you know the type. They forward every joke, every "pass this along to sixty of your closest friends and a MIRACLE will happen to you but if not you will be very, very sorry " scare-the-crap-out-of-you message.
Easy to see how I can accumulate 600 messages, isn't it? Well, that and I really only do this about once a year. Whatever.
Anyway, I really got into a rhythm - everything from Forwarding Friend One I forwarded to Forwarding Friend Two and vice-versa. I organized. I created new folders to store emails from my web site that I need to answer. And I deleted, deleted, deleted. The end was actually in sight - only 100 messages to go!
And then the error message appeared.
Apparently if you wait a year to clean out your email, and try to do that in one morning, while doing the passive-aggressive forwarding to your Forwarding Friends, you'll anger the Yahoo Gods. And you will be locked out of your mail, for (from what I'm able to tell by reading forums with other "sinners") anywhere from 2 to 24 hours, for bandwith abuse. Who knew?
Yeah yeah - I know it's free, but still. Obviously, if I have over 600 messages I've under used my bandwith for the last year, so shouldn't that be in my account or something? Geez.
